Good

The animation is great. Glancing at this flash briefly may give the wrong idea that this was hastily animated. Don't be fooled. The animation may be slightly choppy and lacking detail in the beginning, but watching it to the end will put into perspective how much time was spent making the artistic direction of this flash go just the right way. Around one third of the way through the flash, events start to increase in pace and details become more apparent in crucial moments of the flash. The surreal place the protagonist is in when the fight starts gaining momentum is filled with lively backgrounds which really contrast with his and the shadow creature's mostly solid textures. Visual effects such as the screen stretching when he's jumping quickly into the portal and the interesting effects and backgrounds on the other side of the portal such as the scene with the "PLAY" button in the top left corner add character to the setting. All of the weird settings keep the fighting entertaining and visually pleasing as he and the shadow creature fight to the death.

The music is great. The lyrics and speed of the music match up well with the animation. In the beginning, all is calm in the animation and music and it builds up around the time the shadow creature shows up. Both slow down and speed up again as the creature is seemingly killed and then comes back for vengeance.

The plot is good. As with the animation, the plot matches up well with the music. It's as though the song was telling a story all along that has now come into full view thanks to the animation.

Great flash overall. This could easily be the official music video.

Good

The animation was good. All of the characters are well drawn and the art style is original. The presentation of the title in the beginning was interesting. As the male protagonist walks along, the title appear behind him. Little things like that really add to an animation. The part where the female character is sniffing the air is also very well done. Other parts of the animation would be better if they were as fluid as that scene, but the graphics themselves remain fairly well-drawn throughout.

There is a small animation mistake around ten seconds in where a small dot remains on the leg of the table after the protagonist's arm moves past it. The shadow as the female character leans over the protagonist and the protagonist's facial expression before he becomes conscious do look slightly odd. Her shadow makes her look like she only has one eye and his eyes look a bit far apart whilst closed.

The sound was good. The music matches up with the animation well. The feelings the music conveys matched up with the events of the story in a way that keeps it interesting. Many animators make the mistake of tacking on music that simply does not fit the animation.

The plot was good. Comedic moments such as the female character being introduced by accidentally being drawn by the protagonist and him being annoyed by her dancing around him whilst he is tied up keep the animation funny.

The best parts of this flash are definitely the unique art style and the facial expressions of the characters. The facial expressions made by the protagonist, especially his eyes, are funny without being over the top.

Thank you very much, I really apreciate your critique, it really make me want to keep going my work on animation n_n

Good

The animation quality is good. All of the characters are fairly well animated in a silly but fitting art style that works well for a funny flash such as this.

The voice acting was great. There seem to be no microphone problems and the accents of the characters fit well.

The best thing about this flash is that it is a good parody. Making a good parody is not easy. It takes more thought than most would think. Good parodies bring to light the eccentricities of the people being portrayed. Parodies such as this contain subtle jokes that poke fun at the person and are understood by those who are more aware of the situation (Such as Ray Comfort being a banana), but still manage to keep those who are not aware entertained by making more general jokes that can be appreciated by anyone.

Good

The animation was great. All of it is well drawn. It's easy to tell that you spent a lot of time on it. The facial expressions in the beginning of the animation and the proportions of the protagonist at the end of the flash were strange, but in a funny way that seems to parody anime characters' awkward movements and expressions.

The quality of the animation was good, but fluidity seems to have been sacrificed. More effort could have been made to add fluidity to the animation and perhaps slowing it down to give the viewer a chance to comprehend what they are watching. Not by a lot, but enough that viewers do not feel that they are rushing through the animation in ten seconds.

The audio could use some work. The sound effects were good and, although there was nothing particularly bad about the music, it sounds a bit generic for a robot-fighting anime-style flash. The audio does fit the theme, though.

Good

The graphics are fairly good. All of the main characters are well animated in the places they appear. Everything follows the Mario theme, but is unique enough to differentiate between it. A bit more work could have been put into animating certain areas of the animation such as backgrounds and lesser characters. More details could have improved it.

The audio is good. All of the voice acting was terrific. The rhythm of the music matched the singing and animation. The animation kept up with the audio which meant the animation was fairly past-paced, but it was not too fast as to lose the viewer.

Good

The animation is good. It is smooth and well animated throughout. The smoke effect that is used could have been a bit more detailed, as it doesn't look quite right in the spots where it is used. It also looks a bit awkward when Scotty gets off of the couch.

The audio is good. The music is slightly repetitive, but matches the tone of the narration well. The rhyming narration adds a bit of comic relief to everything that happens. The audio levels of the narration and characters could be tweaked a little bit.

The plot is good. For an introduction, it's fairly interesting to watch. It keeps the viewer entertained, foreshadowing the possible events of the full short film.

The full short film will likely be well received. Perhaps you could upload it to Newgrounds when you're done entering it into festivals. Even if the file size is too big, an administrator will probably up your limit upon request so you can submit it.

COOPERsPLANET responds:

The rest of the film is actually live-action, don't know if I mentioned that...

Well Done

The plot is attention-grabbing. Either character development or action is constantly happening at any given time to keep the viewer interested. The only flaw is that it's a bit on the short side. Although short, the constant action makes up for it.

The music was great. It clearly matched the video and was made the focus of the audio rather than the sound effects, with sound effects still being audible in a few key parts. The action in the visuals matched the audio well.

The graphics were terrific. The animation quality of this flash is among the best ever submitted to Newgrounds. All parts of the animation were smooth. There did not seem to be any animation errors. Character animation was amazing, Aquanna flowed like a body of water and Sparker blazed like a fire.

Overall, very well done. One of the best submissions in quite a while.

Out of this World

Well animated, consistently animated, and smoothly animated. Interesting art style. Good use of lighting and curves. Squiggly animation style accompanied with occasional pixelated pulses make it look deserted, but somehow alive with energy.

The interesting, pulsating nature of everything makes it look as though you've given the beams of light and radio waves as much life as the protagonist. Even the ground below him pulsates with life.

There isn't any apparent plot or story, but this little guy in the middle of space has his own tale to be told and the interpreted by the viewer. This open-endedness circumvents the need for any conventional narration or other forms conveying events and causes it to be more thought provoking.

The animation fits the audio perfectly. Visuals of light and sound accompany the audio and fit extremely well together. All action is matched up with audio and no part of the song is without accompanying animation. This gives the animation an interesting rhythm to it that makes it pleasing to watch and listen.

Wonderful animation, hypnotic audio, thought provoking plot, and overall terrific viewing experience.

Wow, thank you for your comment.
It is these kind of responses that makes me happy for what I have done.

Good

The animation quality is good and all parts of the animation are fairly smooth. There is room for improvement, though. The few instances of "text tool" text seemed out of place. Drawing it in manually would allow it to fit in better with the animation considering it follows a "sketchy" art style.

The scene where the protagonist is unsure of what to do about the explosive is a bit jumpy. It could have been animated more smoothly. The scene where the man is sitting in the doorway ends oddly and a different transition of him fading away could have been used.

The audio was fitting and went along with the action well. At the end, the sound quality could have been improved by using a better microphone. The audio becomes distorted at the end.

The sketchy style of it is good and it definitely works well for such a fast-paced animation. This flash managed to stay interesting by constantly shifting focus to different obstacles for the protagonist to overcome.

Not Bad

The animation is average. Some parts are more well animated than others. There was definitely an effort made to animate this well. Knowing there was effort put into the animation is important because it means you can improve.

There was good use of contrast throughout the animation. The use of contrast to signify internal conflict is the best feature of this flash. Another good feature is the music which adds to the mood.

One example is the man who appears in the ending who is entirely bright while the surroundings are dark. His arms look awkward, though it may be intentional, it doesn't look quite right.

The voice acting is a definite good feature. It's much easier to watch an animation and listen to its sounds naturally than watching text scroll along the bottom of the window.

It isn't a requirement, but having a preloader in your animations is a good idea. It allows the users to press play when they're ready to watch and you can loop right back to the preloader to give your audience a chance to watch it again, view the credits, or click a link to your website.

This is an unusual flash to find on Newgrounds. It's an entirely different style than the majority of submissions and its uniqueness stands out. Newgrounds as a whole would benefit if you posted more animations. It breaks up the monotony. You would also benefit from the ~5% of Newgrounds users who actually will give you a helpful review.
